I am working as a Professor in the University Department of Sociology. My research areas are a) Dalit Studies- Movement, Mobility, Politics and Empowerment b) Reservation Policy, Human Rights of the Weaker Sections, Gender issues and c) Globalisation and Social Movements.

  • Nominated by the University of Mumbai as Hon. Course Co-ordinator of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Centre for Social Justice.

  • I have been recognised as a Research Guide by the SNDT Women.s University, Mumbai to guide the Ph.D. work of the students those who have enrolled with SNDT.

Research Projects:

  • Research Project completed entitled ‘ Protest Movement and Social Change: A study of Dalit Movement in Maharashtra’. This project was financed by the U.G.C., New Delhi.

  • Research Project completed on, ‘Social Justice Philanthropy in India’. The Indian Institute of Dalit Studies, New Delhi, financed this research project.

Ongoing Project:

  • Social Exclusion, funded by the Indo-French Cultural Exchange Programme.

  • Scavengers in Mumbai: Displacement and Rehabilitation.
