M.
A. PROGRAMME:
(a)
Eligibility : Graduates of the University of Mumbai or
of any recognized University, equivalent to this University are
eligible for direct admission to the M.A. Course in Philosophy
as long as candidates have graduated with at least two papers
in Philosophy.
Graduates in the faculties other than the faculty of arts and
graduates in the subject other than philosophy seeking admission
to the M.A. degree course by papers/research are required to appear
for the entrance test conducted by the department.
A graduate of another University seeking admission to the department
is required to obtain a certificate of Eligibility from the Registrar,
University of Mumbai.
Application forms for admission to the M.A./ M.Phil./ Ph.D Courses
can be had from the office during office hours.
While
applying for admission, a candidate is required to submit the
followin :

Certificate of Eligibility
4.
Statement of marks, passing certificate or degree certificate,
with photocopy of each.
Candidates intending to do M.A. by papers shall be admitted only
at the beginning of the academic year. There is generally no such
fixed date for admission for a degree by research.

Those
seeking admissions after the due date will have to pay late fees.
The M.A. degree course is for a duration of two years. The
examination by papers for the M.A. degree will be held in two
parts viz. Part I and Part II for two consecutive years.
The Part I examination shall be held at the end of the first year
and the Part II examination at the end of the second year.
For M.A. Part I and Part II examinations, students are required
to study four compulsory papers and four optional papers.
The total number of marks allotted to both M.A. Part I and M.A.
Part II is 800 (100 marks per paper.)

Scholarships are available under the schemes of the Government
of India and Hon. Vice- Chancellor. Students can also avail
of the Hon. Vice Chancellors Earn and Learn Scheme.

Attendance requirement :
The
candidates are required to attend a minimum of 2/3 of the number
of lectures in each subject in order to be eligible to appear
for the M.A. Part I examination.
